Kretinga to build underground pedestrian underpass

The Kretinga District Municipality has approved a joint activity agreement with LTG Infra to construct an underground pedestrian underpass on Palangos Street, located on the Vilnius–Klaipėda railway line.

The project has a total value of 5,557,000 euros. Funding is primarily sourced from European Union funds, which will cover approximately 4,724,000 euros, while LTG Infra will contribute 667,000 euros and the Kretinga District Municipality will provide 167,000 euros.

The infrastructure will include stairs, elevators, lighting, video surveillance, and water and sewage networks. Mayor Antanas Kalnius noted that the underpass could also serve civil defense purposes for the local community and nearby residential areas. LTG Infra plans to complete the technical design by the end of the year and initiate the contractor selection process early next year.
