Lithuania and Poland prime ministers face prolonged diplomatic pause

Political analyst A. Pukšto from Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas has noted a prolonged pause in direct meetings between the Lithuanian and Polish prime ministers. While Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius has conducted various foreign visits, his communication with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been limited to telephone conversations.

A meeting between the two leaders is scheduled for mid-October during the Warsaw Security Forum. Pukšto suggests this diplomatic gap is due to shifting priorities in Poland, where the Tusk administration is increasingly focusing on partnerships with Germany and France to shape the European Union's agenda.

Additionally, Lithuania's own diplomatic focus has leaned toward Germany and cooperation with Nordic and Baltic states. The analyst noted a sense of mutual hesitation in bilateral cooperation, despite Poland's growing economic and political influence on the global stage and its strengthened ties with the United States.
