Lithuania and Ukraine sign energy infrastructure protection pact

Lithuanian Energy Minister Lukas Savickas and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal have signed a bilateral declaration to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector. Under this agreement, Lithuania will become the first country to share classified information regarding the protection of critical energy infrastructure with Ukraine.

The partnership aims to facilitate the transfer of Ukrainian expertise gained during the war to Lithuania, while also focusing on technical solutions to protect energy infrastructure and ensure supply continuity. The agreement establishes a structured mechanism for practical implementation, including the development of an action plan for the 2026–2028 period to enhance Ukraine's energy resilience ahead of winter.

During his visit to Kyiv, Savickas and his delegation experienced an overnight air raid alert, noting that they faced the same conditions frequently endured by the Ukrainian population.
