Lithuania begins political campaign for 2027 municipal elections

The political campaign for the March 7, 2027, municipal council and mayoral elections officially began on October 7. The Central Electoral Commission (VRK) has announced that registration documents for independent political campaign participants can now be submitted.

To register, participants must complete several preliminary steps, including opening a dedicated, empty bank account to be used exclusively for campaign purposes, appointing a campaign treasurer, and completing the necessary applications or submissions. Required documentation includes the bank contract, a certificate or statement confirming the account has no funds, a signed treasurer agreement, and copies of candidate identification documents. Submissions can be made in person, via mail, through courier services, or by email.
