Lithuania: Child welfare and health preparedness for the new school year

As the new school year approaches in Lithuania, focus is shifting toward child welfare and health preparedness. The organization Maltiečiai has expanded its network of children's day centers to 15 locations across the country, including recent openings in Prienai, Telšiai, and Šiluva. These centers provide a safe environment for children from families facing social difficulties, offering meals, homework assistance, and social interaction to bridge the gap between school and home.

Simultaneously, health experts are reminding parents of the importance of annual preventive medical check-ups for students. Audrius Zinevičius, a risk insurance expert at Lietuvos draudimas, emphasizes that these visits should not be treated as mere formalities to obtain a required health certificate. Comprehensive examinations during these visits can assess vision, hearing, mental health, and physical development, potentially identifying issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.
