Lithuania to receive new rotation of US troops
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has confirmed that a new rotation of United States military forces is currently en route to Lithuania. The deployment is intended to bolster regional security and maintain NATO's collective defense capabilities on the alliance's eastern flank.
While the exact number of incoming troops has not been officially disclosed, President Nausėda stated that the contingent will not be smaller than previous rotations. This follows a period earlier this summer when approximately 1,000 U.S. troops completed their deployment and began departing the country.
Lithuanian officials, including Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys, welcomed the decision, describing it as a strong signal of NATO unity and determination. The President expressed gratitude to the Trump administration for the decision, noting that the U.S. military presence is an indispensable part of Lithuania's deterrence strategy. Lithuania has previously indicated its readiness to host up to 1,500 U.S. troops.
