Lithuania defeats Liechtenstein 2-0 in Nations League opener

Lithuania defeated Liechtenstein 2-0 in their UEFA Nations League League D opener held at the Rheinpark Stadion in Vaduz. After a scoreless first half characterized by a compact Liechtenstein defense and several saves by Liechtenstein goalkeeper Benjamin Büchel, Lithuania broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a goal from Lukas Michelbrink.

Lithuania extended their lead in the 66th minute when Artūras Dolžnikov scored with a long-range shot into the top corner of the net. Following the match, Lithuanian coach Edgaras Jankauskas noted that while the first half was balanced and difficult, his team's strength emerged in the second half. Liechtenstein coach Konrad Fünfstück expressed pride in his team's defensive effort despite the loss.

Lithuania's next scheduled match in the tournament is against Azerbaijan.
