Lithuania denies Russian airspace violations and addresses shelter funding
The Lithuanian military has denied reports of Russian military aircraft violating Lithuanian airspace. According to military data, Russian aircraft flew a route between Kaliningrad and international airspace. In response to radar detections of aircraft flying without transponders, NATO fighter jets conducted standard air policing procedures to visually identify the aircraft.
Regarding domestic policy, the Lithuanian government stated it does not plan to return subsidies for greenhouse heating. Additionally, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius noted that only 3.7 million euros of the 30 million euros allocated for shelters have been utilized. He emphasized that municipal agendas must prioritize this issue and suggested that the 16 million euros planned for shelter modernization by the Ministry of the Interior may be insufficient.
Audrius Klišonis, president of the Lithuanian Municipalities Association, identified complex technical requirements as a primary obstacle to the faster use of shelter funds. In response, Minister of the Interior Martynas Katelynas stated that the ministry is reviewing the requirements imposed on shelters.
