Lithuania education ministry outlines new school year priorities

The Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport has outlined key priorities for the upcoming academic year, focusing on strengthening emotional safety in schools and fostering trust in educators. Minister Raminta Popovienė emphasized a shift toward supportive rather than excessive external school evaluations. New initiatives include updated algorithms to combat bullying and violence, professional development for specialists to recognize aggressive behavior, and the launch of a 'Teachers' Line' in October to provide psychological and legal assistance.

Additionally, the Ministry plans to streamline career advancement for teachers, with intentions to remove work experience requirements for higher qualification categories by 2027 for those holding advanced degrees.

At the local level, educational institutions in Druskininkai Municipality have completed summer renovations. Vice-Mayor Diana Brown and Education Department Head Jurgita Naruckienė inspected updated classrooms, sports infrastructure, and outdoor areas designed to improve safety and comfort for students and staff ahead of the new term.
