Lithuania establishes evacuation routes through Poland for military emergencies

Lithuania has established a structured evacuation strategy to relocate its citizens in the event of a military emergency. The plan designates the Polish Podlaskie Voivodeship as a primary transit hub for refugees arriving from the Baltic states.

In Vilnius, one of the three main evacuation routes leads toward the Polish border. The specific direction and timing of these movements would be determined by the severity and proximity of a threat. The strategy aims to ensure that civilian movement is a coordinated operation rather than a chaotic flight. To facilitate this, civilians are advised to leave before active combat begins, as corridors may become unusable during bombardments.

Ten Northern European countries are reportedly coordinating logistics and cross-border accommodation to support these efforts. While the Lithuanian authorities have detailed plans for moving populations from cities like Vilnius, local Polish authorities are currently working on emergency protocols to manage the potential influx of displaced persons.
