Lithuania expands heat‑pump subsidies and rolls out major renewable energy storage projects

The Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA) is inviting residents to apply for subsidies to replace old solid‑fuel boilers with efficient air‑water heat pumps. Applicants can receive up to 90 % of the purchase price, with financing options that allow payments of €1,000 over ten months. The next application round opens on 1 July, and Ecoenergija.lt assists customers throughout the process, from equipment selection to documentation.

Separately, Ignitis Renewables is developing three large‑scale energy‑storage parks in Lithuania—near Kelmė, Mažeikiai and Kruonis. The combined projects will provide 291 MW of power capacity and store 584 MWh of electricity. These battery systems will capture excess generation from wind and solar farms and release it when demand peaks, helping to stabilise the grid, reduce price volatility and lower reliance on fossil fuels.
