Lithuania hosts conferences on societal resilience and security
Two distinct academic and professional gatherings are taking place in Lithuania focusing on societal resilience.
On October 16, the Institute of Lithuanian History in Vilnius will host a scientific conference titled ‘Community, Crisis, and Unusual Ritual Years in European Countries’. Researchers will examine how holidays, rituals, and community ties adapt during periods of war, occupation, exile, and epidemics. The program includes discussions on cultural strategies in mixed families, Lithuanian Tatar traditions, and the revival of the Jorė festival in Kulionys.
Separately, the third ‘Security Code’ practical security conference was held at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. Attended by over 3,000 participants, the event addressed national defense readiness, cyber and information threats, economic security, and psychological resilience. Alytus Mayor Nerijus Cesiulis participated in discussions regarding the role of municipalities in ensuring citizen safety and crisis resilience, specifically focusing on the cooperation between state and local government institutions during emergencies.
