Lithuania hosts Nations Fair and observes European Mobility Week

Lithuania is observing several major mobility and cultural events this week. The 18th annual Nations Fair is taking place in the heart of Vilnius, showcasing global cultures through music, dance, crafts, and gastronomy.

Due to the festivities, significant traffic restrictions will be in place in Vilnius. Vehicle traffic is prohibited on Gediminas Avenue from September 17 to September 21, and on Vasario 16-osios Street and surrounding areas from September 18 to September 20. A parade for ‘Gypsy Fest 2026’ on September 19 may cause temporary road closures. To accommodate attendees, public transport services, including specific bus and trolleybus routes, will operate more frequently.

Simultaneously, Lithuania is participating in European Mobility Week from September 16 to 22. The initiative encourages sustainable travel alternatives such as cycling, walking, and using public transport. The week culminates on September 22, International Car Free Day. To promote this, Lithuanian Railways is offering a 90 percent discount on train tickets for that day, and some city carriers are providing free transport to encourage citizens to leave their cars at home.
