Lithuania launches ‘Month of Kindness’ civic initiative

The national civic initiative ‘Month of Kindness’ has officially launched in Lithuania, coinciding with International Charity Day on September 5. Initiated by the support platform Aukok.lt, the campaign runs until October 7, which marks Defense Day.

The campaign aims to shift charitable behavior from impulsive giving during crises or holidays toward a sustainable, daily habit. According to Modesta Kairytė, head of Aukok.lt, the goal is to encourage individuals and businesses to integrate small acts of goodwill—such as volunteering, blood donation, or small monthly subscriptions—into their regular routines.

The initiative has united a wide range of non-governmental organizations, including the Food Bank, the Refugee Council of Lithuania, the National Network of Poverty Reduction Organizations, and various centers focusing on autism, postpartum depression, and youth support.
