Lithuania promotes gastronomic tourism via European initiative
Lithuania is promoting its gastronomic heritage and regional culinary traditions to a global audience as part of the European Travel Commission’s ‘Tourism for Europe’ initiative. The project aims to showcase how food and local traditions can drive tourism, support regional economies, and help preserve cultural heritage.
A central component of the campaign is the ‘Tasty Cities’ map, which is designed to guide travelers toward lesser-known Lithuanian towns and communities through their unique culinary identities and generational recipes. The initiative, which begins on September 9, focuses on three core pillars: nature, people, and the economy, emphasizing that sustainable tourism should create value for local communities.
