Lithuania proposes new laws to protect critical national infrastructure

The Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications is submitting seven legislative drafts to the Seimas during its autumn session. These proposals aim to enhance national resilience and security by strengthening the protection of state data, communication networks, and emergency warning systems.

A primary focus of the reforms is to grant the highest level of protection to critical infrastructure. This includes designating state data centers managed by ‘Telecentro’ as vital to national security to prevent disruptions to state information systems and registries. Additionally, the Vilnius TV Tower and the radio and television signal relay station in Kaunas are proposed for inclusion in this category. These facilities are considered essential for broadcasting public information and emergency warnings during crises, mobilization, or wartime scenarios.
