Lithuania to raise minimum wage to 1,245 euros by 2027

The Lithuanian government has approved a decision to increase the minimum monthly wage to 1,245 euros starting in 2027. This move aims to align the minimum wage with approximately 45-50 percent of the country's average wage, reflecting long-term economic trends and rising living costs.

Simultaneously, concerns have been raised regarding the 2027–2029 action plan for supporting the employment of persons with disabilities. While the state aims to increase labor market participation for this group, the proposed annual funding of 25.604 million euros is viewed by various organizations as a real-term reduction. Critics argue that because rising wages and service costs increase the expense of employment subsidies, the proposed budget will cover less support than current levels.

Labor unions and business confederations have called on the Ministry of Social Security and Labour and the Ministry of Finance to revise the funding, noting a gap of approximately 9.35 million euros required to maintain current support levels.
