Lithuania used car market: Prices surge for oldest vehicles

The used car market in Lithuania is experiencing a significant shift in the oldest vehicle segments. While the overall average price for used cars remained nearly stable, increasing by only 0.3 percent to 9,400 euros, prices for older vehicles have risen sharply.

According to data from Autoplius.lt for the second quarter of 2026, vehicles aged 11–15 years saw a 10 percent price increase, while those 16–20 years old rose by 8.6 percent. The most dramatic change occurred in the segment of vehicles over 21 years old, where average prices jumped 16.1 percent, from 1.6 thousand to 1.9 thousand euros. Sales volume for vehicles over 21 years old also surged by 37.4 percent.

Paulius Valiukėnas, head of Longo LT, noted this trend of rising demand and prices in older models. Analysts suggest that the influx of second-pillar pension funds may have contributed to this increased consumer activity, as preliminary estimates from the Bank of Lithuania indicate residents could have allocated between 0.5 and 0.7 billion euros from these funds toward goods and services during the April–June period.
