Lithuanian bank account found linked to doctors in Mazonakis case

Authorities investigating the death of Giorgos Mazonakis have identified a bank account in Lithuania belonging to one of the accused doctors. The Greek Anti-Money Laundering Authority is examining the account to determine its purpose and whether it has been used for financial transactions.

The account appears to have been created during the 2020-2021 period. While initial information from Lithuanian authorities shows no recorded inflows or specific transactions, investigators are continuing their probe to uncover any additional data that may not yet be available.

Researchers are also focusing on the choice of financial institution. The specific bank has been internationally linked to suspicions regarding money laundering and activities related to terrorism financing, though investigators note that these historical suspicions do not prove the account in question was used for illegal transactions.
