Lithuanian Car of the Year 2027 competition begins
The 30th annual Lithuanian Car of the Year competition has officially launched at Vilnius TECH university. This year’s contest features a record-breaking 44 participating models from 22 different brands across eight countries.
The lineup reflects significant shifts in the automotive market, with a heavy emphasis on electrification. Out of the 44 entries, 28 are fully electric, six are plug-in hybrids, four are hybrids, four are gasoline-powered, and only two are diesel. Organizers noted a substantial increase in Asian manufacturers, with 32 of the 44 models originating from Asia, led by China and Japan.
Participants are divided into three price categories: Economic (under €35,000), Mid-range (€35,000 to €50,000), and Premium (above €50,000). A ten-member commission will test the vehicles over the next five weeks, with the winners to be announced on November 28.
