Lithuanian cities announce Christmas tree lighting schedules
Major Lithuanian cities have released their schedules for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremonies. Kaunas and Panevėžys are set to light their trees on November 27. In Kaunas, the main tree will be located in Town Hall Square, while a second, more modern tree made of natural branches will be placed in Unity Square.
Panevėžys will feature a 14-meter natural tree decorated with approximately 20,000 LED lights under the theme “Forest of Lights.” Vilnius and Klaipėda will follow on November 28, with Vilnius lighting a natural tree in Cathedral Square and launching its Christmas village and festive carousel. Klaipėda also plans to use a natural tree, potentially featuring multiple trees in central squares.
Šiauliai will be the last major city to light its tree on December 5. The celebration in Šiauliai will include a program titled “The Christmas Legend of the City’s Birth,” featuring decorations based on the city’s coat of arms, including symbols such as a bear and a ducal cap.
Additionally, Ignalina will host its “Fairytale Christmas” festivities on November 28, featuring a Christmas market, creative workshops, a festive train for children, and a concert by the group Black Biceps.
