Lithuanian communities celebrate traditional Žolinė festivals

Traditional Žolinė (Herbal Day) celebrations were held in the Lithuanian communities of Stračiūnai and Žlibinai/Stalgėnai.

In Stračiūnai, the event featured various educational workshops, including moss and plant crafts, leather jewelry making, ceramics, and weaving with herbs. Attendees participated in activities such as herbal tea tasting, making personal inhalers with a phytotherapist, and enjoying traditional sauna and massage services. Children's activities included trampolines, face painting, and bubble play.

In Žlibinai, the festivities included flower and herb courtyard arrangements and a visit from herbalist Marija Lasinskas, who shared knowledge on the medicinal benefits of plants and nature's role in well-being. The celebrations also included religious services at the Žlibinai Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where parishioners offered bouquets to give thanks for the harvest. The event concluded with a performance by the Žlibinai Culture Center theater group near the Žemyna sculpture.
