Lithuanian conscripts hold first oath ceremony in Simnas

For the first time, a military oath ceremony for conscripts of the Lithuanian Armed Forces' Iron Wolf Infantry Brigade, specifically the Grand Duchy of Birutė Uhlan Battalion, was held in the town square of Simnas.

A total of 131 soldiers took an oath to serve Lithuania faithfully and defend its freedom and independence. The ceremony was attended by Rasa Vitkauskienė, the Mayor of Alytus District Municipality, who congratulated the soldiers on their commitment to the nation.

The conscripts, who joined either voluntarily or through the draft, are beginning a nine-month service period. This training includes a two-month basic soldier training course followed by specialist training, where soldiers learn skills such as weaponry, first aid, navigation, and for some, the operation of drones or combat vehicles.
