Lithuanian consumers shift toward long-burning cemetery candles

As All Saints' Day approaches, Lithuanian consumers are changing their habits regarding cemetery candles. According to retail data from Maxima, there is a growing trend toward purchasing fewer individual candles that offer longer burning times. While traditional candles typically lasted 6 to 10 hours, many consumers are now opting for products that burn for 24 hours or even up to 100 hours.

Despite the shift in duration, preferences for aesthetics remain stable, with white colors and simple designs continuing to dominate. Maxima reports that over 4 million cemetery candles are purchased during this period, with 73% of the assortment being locally produced. Gintautas Igaris, founder of the Lithuanian manufacturer Geralda, noted that while the number of units sold may decrease, the total burning time remains a key metric for understanding consumer behavior and the tradition of remembrance.
