Lithuanian cultural events feature traditional theatre and the Sirenos festival

Lithuania is hosting several notable cultural performances and festivals this September. At the Kleboniškių village life museum in the Radviliškis district, Stalo teatras will present the children's production ‘Eglė žalčių karalienė’. The performance utilizes antique household tools and objects to create characters and scenery, accompanied by music played on traditional instruments. The event will also include folk dance lessons and traditional food tastings.

Additionally, the Vilnius International Theatre Festival ‘Sirenos’ is scheduled to begin on September 23. This year’s theme is ‘Theatre is an Escape’. The festival program features works from international creators, including three productions by Greek directors—notably one by Mario Banushi—as well as free performances by a Ukrainian artist in open spaces across Vilnius. Festival director Kristė Agota Savė noted that the theme reflects a desire to immerse audiences in unique micro-worlds as a reprieve from complex geopolitical realities.
