Lithuanian cultural events highlight regional heritage and aviation history

In Lithuania, recent cultural and educational activities have highlighted regional heritage and aviation history. A group from Kretinga participated in an educational excursion to the Zarasai region, visiting Lake Zarasas and its 44-hectare island. The tour included visits to the Šylinkos water mill, the historic Stelmužė oak, and local landmarks such as the monument to anthropologist Dominykas Bukontas.

Simultaneously, the Lithuanian Aviation Museum hosted the presentation of the monograph ‘Vladas Kensgaila’ by journalist Edmundas Ganusauskas. The book chronicles the life of Vladas Kensgaila, a prominent aviator and aircraft designer who created nine different aviation constructions, including the VK-8 ‘Aušra’ and the VK-9 passenger plane. The event featured reflections from Kensgaila’s son, Darius, and highlighted his contributions to experimental aviation and aerodynamic research.
