Lithuanian cultural initiatives focus on heritage and social issues

Lithuanian cultural initiatives are highlighting the preservation of heritage and the importance of addressing social stigma. Ieva, inspired by her mother’s work with the Lithuanian Folk Artists Union and her connection to the writer Jurgis Bielinis, has launched ‘Pas Babą Radau’. The project focuses on finding and preserving traditional Lithuanian folk art and antiques to integrate them into modern homes.

In a different cultural vein, comedian Vita Žiba will participate in a fashion musical titled ‘PATYS kaLTi. teismas’ (WE ARE THE GUILTY. trial). Created by artist Lukas Svirplis, the performance will take place at Lukiškės Prison on October 14. The production aims to deconstruct the social stigma faced by victims of assault and the victim-blaming culture prevalent in society, drawing from Svirplis’s own experiences with human rights issues and public judgment.
