Lithuanian cultural institutions host events on history and literature

Lithuanian cultural institutions are hosting various events to connect historical heritage with contemporary issues. In Dusetai, the conference ‘The Path of the Book Smugglers: The Power of the Printed Word from Jurgis Bielinis to Artificial Intelligence’ concluded a project exploring the history of book smuggling and its relevance in the digital age.

Simultaneously, the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania will participate in the Kaunas Book Fair from September 18–20. The library’s program includes presentations of new works from the Science and Encyclopedia Publishing Centre, discussions with historians, and meetings with award-winning authors. Key topics include the life and writings of Vladas Putvinskis and a detailed study of the 1946 Kaunas flood, aiming to bridge the gap between past experiences and modern civic identity.
