Lithuanian Defence Minister seeks to protect resistance printing press
Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas has called for the protection of the ‘ab’ underground printing press, a site used for resistance against the Soviet occupation. The minister expressed a desire to negotiate with the leadership of the Vytautas the Great War Museum to ensure the site remains an exhibit, describing it as a real-world example of unarmed resistance rather than just photographs on a wall.
The printing press, located in Salių village near Kaunas, was founded by Vytautas Andziulis and Juozas Bacevičius. It has historically served as a site for military and resistance training, and is currently used by soldiers, the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union, and students for educational purposes. This intervention follows a decision by the War Museum's director to terminate a long-standing cooperation agreement with the private facility.
