Lithuanian digital trends: E-commerce platforms and refurbished electronics

Recent reports highlight evolving consumer and business trends in the digital and electronics sectors in Lithuania.

In the e-commerce landscape, the choice of technological infrastructure is critical for business growth. Companies must decide between Software as a Service (SaaS) models, such as Shopify, Wix, or BigCommerce, which offer managed security and updates for a monthly fee, and Open Source systems, which provide greater flexibility but require more technical management. The ideal choice depends on the scale of the business, ranging from individual artisans to large wholesalers with complex warehouse needs.

Regarding consumer electronics, a survey of 500 Lithuanian residents conducted by the refurbished electronics retailer Refurbed reveals that 63% of respondents do not fully understand what a ‘refurbished’ device is. While 43% fear hidden defects and 34% struggle to identify reliable sellers, there is potential for growth in this market. Currently, 32% of users utilize devices that are six years or older, whereas only 3% purchase the latest models for status. Experts suggest that refurbished smartphones, laptops, and tablets offer significant value, provided they are purchased from specialists who offer functional guarantees and clear condition grading.
