Lithuanian Election Commission allocates state subsidies to political parties

The Central Electoral Commission (VRK) of Lithuania has calculated and distributed state budget allocations for political parties for the second half of 2026. A total of 2,420,006 euros will be transferred to nine political parties based on their performance in recent municipal, European Parliament, and Seimas elections.

The Lithuanian Social Democratic Party will receive the largest share of 665,041 euros, followed by the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats with 614,648 euros. Other recipients include the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union, the Democrats Union “Vardan Lietuvos”, the Liberal Movement, the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Union, the Freedom Party, the National Union, and the Center Right Union.

Two parties were denied funding due to serious legal violations. The Nemuno aušra party has been barred from receiving state subsidies for one year following systematic violations of the Election Code and the Law on Political Organizations related to campaign financing. Additionally, the Lithuanian Regional Party was denied funding for six months due to violations of the Law on Political Organizations. As a result, a total of 330,994 euros will remain unallocated in the state budget.
