Lithuanian environmental officers identify 191 violations during July raids
During the month of July, environmental protection officers conducted 163 raids as part of the ‘Rest Responsibly’ initiative. These inspections, carried out in collaboration with the State Service for Protected Areas, targeted sensitive natural locations including protected territories and water bodies.
Authorities inspected 1,472 individuals and 31 business entities. The raids focused on verifying compliance regarding vehicle parking, campfire regulations, waste disposal at campsites and fishing sites, and the use of watercraft. There was also an increased focus on preventing the use of ATVs and motocross bikes in prohibited areas such as forests and meadows.
In total, 191 violations were identified. The most frequent infractions involved recreational fishing regulations, with 93 violations recorded, including the use of prohibited tools and methods. Additionally, 68 violations concerned the protection and use regimes of protected areas. Other administrative violations accounted for 24 cases. During the operations, various fishing tools and one watercraft were seized, and five instances of environmental damage were recorded, totaling approximately 1,089.30 EUR.
