Lithuanian families prepare for the upcoming school year

As the new school year approaches, families in Lithuania are preparing for the transition from summer routines. Nutritionist Indrė Trusovė advises parents to avoid extreme dietary changes and instead introduce healthy habits gradually. She suggests establishing a consistent meal rhythm—including regular breakfasts, lunches, and dinners—to reduce the urge for snacking. Rather than banning summer treats like ice cream or pizza, which can cause resistance in children, she recommends offering healthy alternatives and simple, nutritious lunchbox ideas such as chicken and zucchini tortillas or chickpea pasta.

In addition to nutrition, families are focusing on shopping for essential school supplies. Experts suggest reviewing existing items before purchasing new ones to manage costs. Shopping lists typically include clothing, footwear, backpacks, and stationery. When selecting backpacks, it is recommended to involve children in the process to ensure they like the style, while prioritizing ergonomic features like lightweight materials and adjustable, wide straps for comfort.
