Lithuanian FM Kęstutis Budrys urges stronger NATO response after Russian missile strike in Poland

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said NATO’s political reaction to the Russian missile that landed in Poland on July 30 could have been much stronger. He called for a full investigation of how the missile penetrated NATO airspace, assessment of radar detection and interceptor readiness, and warned that the alliance must not normalise such incidents.

Budrys also told LRT that a version in which Russia targeted diplomatic premises in Kyiv cannot be ruled out. He noted that two Russian missiles struck near the Lithuanian embassy district in Kyiv, damaging the embassy’s windows and roof, causing civilian casualties and breaching the 1961 Vienna Convention. Lithuania will demand compensation from Moscow and retains the right to take further measures in response to the attacks.
