Lithuanian Government approves program plan amid nepotism probe

The Lithuanian Government, led by Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius, has approved an implementation plan for its program. Key priorities include strengthening air defense systems, supporting family policy and demographics, enhancing the national development bank (ILTE), and ensuring quality education. The plan also aims to make Lithuania an electricity exporter within two years and targets a minimum old-age pension equivalent to half of the average wage.

Simultaneously, the Seimas Anti-Corruption Commission is considering an investigation into potential systemic nepotism within the public sector. A specific focus of the inquiry involves the employment of individuals linked to the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) at Raudondvaris Manor. Reports indicate that several individuals connected to ruling party members, including the Prime Minister’s wife, hold positions at the institution.
