Lithuanian highway repairs continue through autumn

Road construction and repairs in Lithuania are continuing through the autumn, extending beyond the summer months to include major national highways. According to Šarūnas Frolenko, head of the Lietuvos keliai association, autumn work is not necessarily a sign of delay, but rather a matter of utilizing favorable weather conditions before technological breaks occur.

Data from Via Lietuva indicates that approximately 170 kilometers of the worst-condition motorways and highways are being repaired this year. Of this, about 100 kilometers are expected to be completed by the end of the year, while the remainder is scheduled for completion by 2027.

Key ongoing projects include: - The A1 highway (Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda): Over 10 kilometers are being repaired near Elektrėnai, with work on the opposite side planned for next year. - The A8 highway (Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai): A 14-kilometer section started in the summer is expected to be finished by year-end. - The A11 highway (Šiauliai–Palanga): Repairs are underway on a 5-kilometer stretch between Kretinga and Vydmantai, while a 7.3-kilometer section in the Telšiai district is slated for completion in the summer of 2027.
