Lithuanian job market study reveals SQL and Python as top programming languages

An analysis of over 65,000 job advertisements in Lithuania published between January 2025 and May 2026 reveals the most in-demand programming languages and technical skills. According to the study conducted by Oxylabs, SQL is the most frequently requested language, appearing in 49% of cases, followed by Python at 39%. Other notable languages include JavaScript (16%), TypeScript (15%), and Java (15%).

The findings suggest a growing emphasis on data literacy within the technology sector. Employers are increasingly seeking specialists who can not only write code but also analyze data, automate processes, and apply technical knowledge to create business value. The combination of SQL and Python is particularly prominent, appearing together in 19% of the analyzed job postings.

Demand for SQL varies across roles, appearing in 64% of backend developer postings, 57% of full-stack roles, and 85% of data engineer and architect positions. Python is highly prevalent in data science and artificial intelligence roles, where it is mentioned in 87% of postings.
