Lithuanian mobile networks recover from storm-related power outages

Major mobile network operators in Lithuania are working to restore services following storm-induced power outages that affected hundreds of base stations. While electricity has been restored to many sites, significant disruptions persist in certain regions.

Tele2 reports that 99% of the Lithuanian population is currently covered by its network, though service stability varies by location. As of Tuesday, 99 base stations remained without power, primarily in the Marijampolė, Kaunas, and Utena counties. The operator noted that the disruptions were largely caused by power failures due to wind and falling trees rather than physical damage to equipment.

Bitė Lietuva reported that approximately 170 of its 330 affected towers remain offline, representing about 10% of its network. The most impacted areas include the Anykščiai, Rokiškis, Jonava, Šakiai, and Kėdainiai districts. Similarly, Telia experienced outages affecting about 200 base stations, or roughly 10% of its network, on Monday morning.

Technical teams from the major providers are utilizing generators and recharging station batteries to restore connectivity. Operators emphasize that while calls and SMS may still be possible in many areas, mobile internet stability may remain inconsistent until continuous power supply is fully restored to all affected stations.
