Lithuanian municipalities secure EU funding for regional infrastructure

Lithuanian municipalities have signed agreements to utilize European Union funds for regional development and infrastructure projects.

In Plungė, a contract worth approximately €3.7 million was signed between the Central Project Management Agency and the Plungė District Municipality. The project aims to improve the accessibility and visitor experience of the Kaušėnai Holocaust memorial and Jewish killing sites. Planned improvements include the construction of pedestrian and bicycle paths, modernized stairs, lighting, and the creation of digital and audio content in Lithuanian and English to integrate the site into the ‘Sacred Path’ regional tourism route.

In Alytus, the municipality and the Central Project Management Agency have entered an agreement for a €7.6 million business cooperation center. This project, partially funded by EU and state budget resources, focuses on renovating a building on Žuvinto Street to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs. The center is designed to provide specialized laboratories, shared workspaces, and a ‘one-stop-shop’ for business services to increase the city's attractiveness for investment and job creation.
