Lithuanian musical film ‘Velnio nuotaka’ revived in concert format
The classic Lithuanian musical film ‘Velnio nuotaka’ has been revived in a new concert format, performing in major arenas across Panevėžys, Kaunas, Šiauliai, and Klaipėda. This cultural event features a live performance by the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra and a rhythm group, accompanied by the Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy choir and prominent Lithuanian soloists.
Directed by maestro Jonas Janulevičius, the production pairs live music by Viačeslavas Ganelinas with a 4K restored version of the film, an initiative of the Lithuanian Film Centre. The project serves both as entertainment and an educational tool to introduce younger generations to Lithuanian literary classics, specifically celebrating the legacy of writer Kazys Boruta and his novel ‘Baltaragio malūnas’.
The cast includes performers such as Povilas Meškėla, Vladas Kovaliovas, Ona Kolobovaitė, and Vidas Bareikis.
