Lithuanian PM and Donald Trump offer differing views on Ukraine strategy
At the Warsaw Security Forum, Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius urged Ukraine to increase strikes against Russian data centres to protect European elections from interference. Sinkevicius emphasized that Europe must find greater unity and strength to secure a seat at the global decision-making table, noting that current defense industry outputs still lag behind production needs.
In a separate development, US President Donald Trump called for a change in Ukrainian leadership following a dispute over Russian diesel sanctions. Trump defended a decision to allow more Russian diesel into global markets to alleviate fuel price pressures, accusing President Volodymyr Zelensky of ignoring instructions to avoid striking Russian refineries. While Trump claimed Vladimir Putin is interested in reaching a settlement, Zelensky and European allies warned that easing sanctions provides funding for the Kremlin’s military operations.
