Lithuanian PM condemns US-Russia diesel agreement

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius has criticized a reported agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding diesel fuel supplies. Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Sinkevičius described the arrangement as “shameful and dishonorable,” noting that he has seen social media announcements but has not seen a written agreement.

The reported deal involves Russia agreeing to supply large quantities of diesel to the United States and global markets. While Trump has linked rising fuel prices to the Russia-Ukraine war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned the deal, characterizing it as a “gift to Putin” and warning that easing restrictions on Russian diesel exports could undermine efforts.

In related developments, Trump claimed on Truth Social that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to cease long-range attacks on power plants and oil refineries. However, Zelenskyy disputed this, stating that the Kremlin remains unwilling to agree to a ceasefire and reported that Russia continued to strike energy facilities following the announcement.
