Lithuanian PM suggests Latvian drone incident may be false flag
Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius has stated that a drone recently shot down over Latvia could potentially be part of a ‘false flag’ operation. While acknowledging the possibility of such a provocation, Sinkevičius emphasized that there is currently no evidence to support this theory because the wreckage has not yet been recovered.
He noted that once the aircraft is found, experts may be able to identify its type, ownership, and intended target, potentially through the analysis of microchips.
The comments follow warnings from Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas, who previously indicated that intelligence services had identified potential Russian provocations in the Baltic region. Kaunas suggested that Russia might consider strikes against critical infrastructure or use captured Ukrainian drones to create the illusion of Ukrainian involvement in regional disruptions.
