Lithuanian police announce October traffic enforcement schedule
Lithuanian police have announced a series of preventive traffic control measures scheduled throughout October. These inspections will take place on highways, regional, district, and local roads using public, non-public, or mixed patrolling methods.
Key inspection dates include: • October 1–3 and 19–22: Focus on drivers failing to stop for pedestrians and pedestrian compliance with traffic signals and crossing rules. • October 5–11: Participation in the European Roads Policing Network (ROADPOL) initiative, ‘Focus on the Road’. Officers will check seatbelt usage, child safety seats, and helmet compliance. • October 14–16: Monitoring of intersection navigation, railway crossings, and traffic light compliance. • October 24–26: Sobriety tests for alcohol and narcotics. • October 29–31: Crackdown on dangerous driving, reckless maneuvering, and illegal overtaking.
Additionally, October 15 is designated as ‘Reflector Day’ to encourage pedestrians to use high-visibility gear, such as reflectors and bright vests, due to decreasing daylight and poor visibility caused by fog and precipitation.
