Lithuanian police launch community safety and school zone prevention campaigns
Lithuanian police and community officers are intensifying preventive efforts to enhance public safety and social connection. Community officers act as a bridge between the police and the public, focusing on proactive education and prevention rather than just documenting violations. Their work includes engaging with various demographics, from kindergarteners to seniors, to prevent issues such as fraud and scams before they occur.
In conjunction with the start of the school year, the police have launched the 'September: Everyone on the Road – Everyone Responsible' campaign. This initiative involves over 400 volunteers across approximately 50 cities to monitor pedestrian crossings near schools. Partnering with organizations such as the Lithuanian Red Cross, the Lithuanian Military's Military Police, and the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union, the campaign aims to ensure the safety of students as they navigate traffic. Police officials urge drivers to exercise extreme caution and patience near educational institutions to protect children.
