Lithuanian Prime Minister discusses Russia threat and US-Russia energy deal

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius stated that there is no concrete intelligence evidence suggesting Russia is preparing for an imminent military attack on NATO territory. While describing Russia as increasingly hostile and engaged in hybrid attacks, Sinkevičius noted that the risk level has not shifted significantly. His remarks contrast with warnings from leaders in Poland and Denmark regarding potential Russian strikes on NATO members.

Addressing recent diplomatic developments, Sinkevičius affirmed that Lithuania’s trust in the United States as a strategic partner remains unchanged despite political rhetoric. He expressed support for American initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine, following an announcement by Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin regarding diesel supplies and a ceasefire targeting energy infrastructure.

Sinkevičius also criticized companies maintaining economic ties with Russia, arguing that business interests should not supersede the fate of Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials reported continued Russian strikes on power plants and gas facilities following the announcement of the energy ceasefire.
