Lithuanian Road Association seeks increased state funding

The Lithuanian Road Association has formally appealed to the Seimas, the Budget and Finance Committee, and the Committee on Economy and Innovation to increase funding for road maintenance and development. The association is requesting that the 436 million euro allocation for the 2027 Road Maintenance and Development Program be raised to at least 540 million euros.

Association leader Š. Frolenko noted that while the Road Fund is growing due to increased user contributions and planned electronic tolls, the proportion of state budget funds allocated to roads has decreased. He argued that the current model shifts the financial burden to road users without necessarily increasing total investment, which fails to address infrastructure degradation and rising construction costs.
