Lithuanian schools assessed for sustainability progress
The Lithuanian Non-formal Education Support Agency (LINEŠA) has released its latest sustainability assessments for schools under the ‘Sustainable School 2030’ agenda. The evaluation covered 238 educational institutions across the country.
In the highest tier of sustainability leaders, 25 institutions were recognized, including the Ukmergė nursery-kindergarten ‘Žiogelis’. Other top-tier schools were identified in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Kretinga, and Molėtai.
In the Tauragė region, results were mixed. While Tauragė ‘Šaltinio’ progymnasium achieved the first level of sustainability (I Sustainability Bruknė), three other institutions—Tauragė ‘Pušelė’ kindergarten, Tauragė ‘Aušra’ progymnasium, and Tauragė Martynas Mažvydas progymnasium—were included in the list of schools lagging most in sustainability efforts.
Almantas Kulbis, head of the Sustainability Development Department at LINEŠA, noted that sustainability is increasingly becoming a part of school culture, showing continuous progress across the nation.
