Lithuanian seasonal festivals: Forgettingness Festival and Mushroom Championship
Lithuania will host two major seasonal festivals in September. The International Forgettingness Festival is scheduled for September 3–5 at the Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) Botanical Garden in Kaunas. The event features an international competition for flower varieties, with participants from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and France. An international commission will evaluate the plants based on decorative value, form, color intensity, and stability.
In mid-September, Varėna will host the 23rd Lithuanian Mushroom Championship in the village of Žiūrai. The event, part of the International Mushroom Festival on September 12, follows the theme of 'Forest Tales.' Competitors will vie for the 'Mushroom Picker' prize, established by Varėna District Mayor Algis Kašeta. The festival aims to celebrate Dzūkija's cultural identity and traditional foraging practices.
