Lithuanian Senior Picnic Celebrations Bring Free Community Events to 17 Towns

The non‑profit organisation SENJERO is holding its fourth annual “Senior Picnic” across 17 Lithuanian towns on 25 and 27 August. The free gatherings invite seniors to leave their homes, dress up, showcase talents, and celebrate life in the present moment.

Communication director Sigita Kaminskaitė explains that the events are designed around participant‑led activities – poetry readings, dancing, exercise, singing, crafts and informal socialising – rather than a staged programme. Partner Akvilė supplies non‑alcoholic drinks, while LRT helps spread the information to senior audiences. This year’s picnics are the largest in the four‑year history of the initiative, reflecting growing community and municipal support for active ageing.
